Activities A Typical Day Routines
Care, Learning and Play Children learn when they are in a safe and caring environment where they are stimulated through play. Babies and young children develop best when they are in a caring relationship with an adult. We will strive to provide your child with an environment that will be caring, fun and stimulating. We will plan my play in line with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) With effect from September 2008 all Childcare practitioners (Childminders, Pre-school, Day Nurseries, Nursery Schools) looking after children between the ages of 0 to 5 years are required to follow the EYFS, this replaces the previous programme - Birth to Three and Foundation Stage. The EYFS is divided into 4 themes each containing 4 commitments:
The EYFS then divides children’s learning and development into 6 areas of learning: o Personal, social & emotional development (PSED) o Communication, language & Literacy (CLL) o Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy (PSRN) o Knowledge and Understanding the world (KUW) o Physical development (PD) o Creative development (CD) As we know children start learning about the world around them from the moment they are born. Therefore we will endeavour to continue to provide the children with interesting and stimulation activities that are appropriate for their age and stage of development, which fit into the aforementioned Themes, Commitments and areas of learning. We will continue to record the children’s achievements through their diaries, photographs for their scrap books and observations. As we have said The Early Years Foundation Stage is aimed at 0 to 5 years and once children start school at 5 years the national curriculum takes over. However we will continue to follow the themes of the EYFS and adapt activities to age and ability of those older children, after all, life is on big learning process.
